Nexus Ninjas return to unbox the Galaxy Nexus |
| Posted by Shawn Scoot - Dec 19, 2011 - 3:46pm |

Google has a tradition with every release of a Nexus phone. The Ninja Unboxing. If you are new to this, check out the Nexus One Ninja Unboxing and the Nexus S Ninja Unboxing.
The Ninja Unboxing 3 for the Galaxy Nexus is a new experience. Google went 8-bit on us and turned the Unboxing into an old-school arcade style first person beat-em-up Ninja game. Before you go to the page, make sure you have the next 10-15 minutes free, and ... well, you'll find out how it ends.

If that wasn't enough, the game is available in the Android Market, incase you happen to have 15 more minutes to kill. ... |

AOSP Ice Cream Sandwich build for the Motorola XOOM over at XDA |
Posted by Shawn Scoot - Dec 17, 2011 - 5:53pm |
|
Google has been relatively quite about Ice Cream Sandwich for tablets, so most developers have taken it upon them selves to create a ROM right from the source. Developer, razorbladex401, over at XDA build a ROM from the source for the Motorola XOOM, the "original" Android tablet, which by the way, no official word from Google regarding timeframe for the update.
The ROM looks to work very well, it's fast, hardware acceleration seems to be working, at it's early stage, you can use it as a daily driver. Only thing now quite working yet are the cameras, there seems to be a green overlay from time to time and there are some missing proprietary binaries that Motorola ... |

Ice Cream Sandwich leaked for the Samsung Galaxy S II |
Posted by Shawn Scoot - Dec 14, 2011 - 10:21am |
|
The big question on everyone mind is, what's will Ice Scream Sandwich look like with an OEM overlay? Well thanks to SamMobile, we get a preview of an early build of ICS, with TouchWiz on a Samsung Galaxy S II.
Overall it looks the same as Gingerbread, until you go in to settings. The home screen, notification bar and app launcher. The lock screen is from ICS, and it seems that it can be unlocked from anywhere on the screen, not just on the bottom like ICS, what's noticeably missing from the app launcher is a widget tab, right now, all you get is an app launcher with infinite scroll. To notice it's ICS is when you go into settings and see the layout, the menus, etc. ... |

Google’s response to Siri will be unveiled before the end of the year, codenames Majel |
Posted by Felix Akinyemi - Dec 13, 2011 - 11:44pm |
|
Over at Android and Me, they have been tipped of that Google is working on revamping the Android Voice Action from the ground up, with the project codenames Majel. The way it looks, this is the answer to Apples Siri. Right now we only have a text message command, navigate, listen to, call, etc., just basic commands.
Its not quite clear how Google will implement this, because when Apple announced Siri on the iPhone 4S, Google publicly said that they didn't like the idea of having a conversation with your phone, it just wasn't natural.
If the name Majel doesn't ring a bell, Majel is the name of a computer in Star Trek who interacted with voice commands. ... |

Early port of Ice Cream Sandwich running on the Amazon Kindle Fire |
Posted by Felix Akinyemi - Dec 7, 2011 - 5:24pm |
|
For the many of you guys out there that bought the Kindle Fire for all the wrong reasons, as in bought it with the hopes of having Ice Cream Sandwich running on it, that hope is soon to be realized. A developer that's not very well knows yet, goes by the name G1011999 on YouTube, managed to get it up and running on his Kindle Fire.
Like all early ICS ports it's far from stable. There are still some issues to work out like Wi-Fi, sound and optimizing it a little more since it seems a little laggy. He will be working on this and pushing his code out to open source. We'll bring you more as it comes. In the mean time we have the video after the break.

Ice Cream Sandwich running on a ZiiLABS Jaguar Reference Tablet |
Posted by Shawn Scoot - Dec 1, 2011 - 11:15am |
|
Does the tablet ZiiLABS Jaguar ring a bell, well it really shouldn't unless your a big time Android nerd, like us. The folks at ZiiLABS developed the ARM-based ZMS-20 chipset early this year and was design specifically with Honeycomb tablets in mind, but a new video was released by ZiiLABS demonstrating the power of the CPU running Ice Cream Sandwich, on what looks like a 7-inch tablet.
The ZMS-20 chip is a 1.5GHz ARM Cortex-A9 CPU with Open GL ES 2.0 3D graphics support and 1080p HD video playback. It runs ICS smooth with no lag, and from watching the video, it can handle 3D games like nobody's business, navigating through the OS is smooth, and pinch-to-zoom on the ... |
